Privacy Policy — Leo Talk

LeoTalk (“we,” “our,” or “us”) provides messaging, voice and video calls, and related features. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your choices. By using LeoTalk, you agree to this policy.

1. INFORMATION WE COLLECT

A. Personal Information
We collect your phone number and profile information (such as display name, profile photo, bio, and birthday if you choose to add them) to create and manage your account and show your profile to other users according to your privacy settings.

B. Messages and Media
We process your chat messages, voice notes, photos, videos, files, and call-related data (such as call status and duration) so we can deliver them to your contacts and provide messaging and calling features. Message content is stored on our servers to enable delivery, sync across your devices, and features such as search, replies, and deletion.

D. Contacts
If you grant permission, we securely access your device contacts (such as phone numbers and names) to help you find other LeoTalk users. You can deny contact access; some contact-discovery features may not work without it.

E. Device and Usage Information
We may collect information such as device type, operating system version, app version, language, and connection type to operate the service, fix errors, and improve stability.

F. Identifiers
We use identifiers such as a Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) token to send push notifications, and Firebase Installation ID / Crashlytics identifiers for diagnostics. After you sign in, crash reports may be linked to your account using an internal user ID.

G. Privacy Settings
Your choices in Settings → Privacy (for example last seen, profile photo visibility, read receipts, typing indicator, and forwarded-message visibility) are stored and enforced on our servers.

2. HOW WE USE YOUR INFORMATION

We use the information above to:
* Provide messaging, media sharing, voice/video calls, and notifications.
* Authenticate your account and keep it secure.
* Apply your privacy and blocking preferences.
* Send push notifications for messages and calls.
* Diagnose crashes and technical issues (Firebase Crashlytics).
* Comply with law and protect users from abuse, fraud, or security risks.

We do not sell your personal information.

3. THIRD-PARTY SERVICES

We use the following third-party services to operate the application:
* Google Firebase Cloud Messaging: Used for push notifications (Processes device token and notification payload metadata).
* Google Firebase Crashlytics: Used for crash and error reporting (Processes device/app info and diagnostic logs).
* Default Profile Images (DiceBear / ui-avatars.com): If applicable, a stable identifier or display name may be sent to generate a default placeholder avatar image.

These providers process data under their own privacy policies.

4. DATA SHARING

We do not share your personal information with third parties for their marketing. We may share information:
* With other users, as you direct (messages, profile details visible under your privacy settings, shared location, etc.).
* With service providers that help us run LeoTalk (hosting, push notifications, crash reporting), under contractual obligations to protect your data.
* When required by law or to protect rights, safety, and security.

5. DATA SECURITY

We use industry-standard measures to protect your information. Data is encrypted in transit between the app and our servers using HTTPS (TLS). Data at rest on our servers is protected by access controls and security practices appropriate to a messaging service.

No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure. Please use a strong device lock and do not share your verification codes.

6. DATA RETENTION

We retain your account data and messages for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the service. When you delete your account, we delete or anonymize your personal data within a reasonable period, except where we must keep certain information for legal, security, or backup purposes for a limited time.

7. YOUR RIGHTS AND CHOICES

* Change privacy settings in Settings → Privacy.
* Control notifications and storage in app settings.
* Revoke permissions (camera, microphone, contacts, location) in your device settings.
* Block users and manage who can contact you.
* Request account and data deletion (see Section 8).

8. ACCOUNT AND DATA DELETION

You can request deletion of your account and associated personal data at any time:
* In the App: Navigate to Settings → Account → Delete account (when available), or
* By Email: Send a deletion request from your registered number/details to leotalkapp@gmail.com

After verification, we will delete your account and personal data. Some information may remain in others’ chat history (messages you sent to them) until they delete those chats, consistent with how messaging apps work.

9. CHILDREN’S PRIVACY

LeoTalk is not intended for children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will delete it.

10. INTERNATIONAL USERS

Your information may be processed on servers located outside your country. By using LeoTalk, you consent to this transfer where permitted by law, with appropriate safeguards.

11. CHANGES TO THIS POLICY

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the new version with an updated “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Continued use of LeoTalk after changes means you accept the updated policy.
